Humans have a problem which scientifics call “the first opinion’s based impression”…
No matter how many times you try and tell to somebody that this symbol represents infinity and love, this persons brain will always have a first opinion’s based impression because of the nazi history. That’s how the human brain works and this problem is well known to the brands marketing guys who are constently using it to manipulate large audiences and make benefice for their products.
I fully agree that the real meaning of this symbol must be known to all because people from other religions are suffering from the ignorance and the first opinion’s based impression of so many people.
How can one leave Hitler’s horrendous story perpetuate? If everybody would know the real meaning of this symbol, Hitler would not only be seen as the biggest criminal but also as the world’s greatest all time lyer….
Every word and symbol that is created takes a journey of meaning throughout the ages. only when we look back at its creator do we find the truth. Anything created from the heart finds its way back home.
The swastika has not lost its spiritual significance. Or importance in time. It will for a thousand years and more teach us what was wrong with persecution. How has it changed in essence.
Sometimes you have to look a little closer to find understanding.

Thanks, I said I did not know perfectly as I have never got around to reading the Koran, but many years ago, I read this somewhere, but have totally forgotten where.
I am glad if this is not written in the Koran and I am very happy it says it is banned to offend any country.
Sometimes the sources e.g Koran and Bible are basically very good, some of the interpreters not so good.
I was born In Teheran and find Iranians very polite race.
Also the food is very good!.One oif my cousins has just gone to Iran to see about the Zoarastrian Culture there.

I tend to agree about Islam, as I think, but do not know perfectly, it says in the Koran that it is the duty of all Muslims to convert the world to Islam, by force if necessary.
Although the Christians also went allover the world trying to convert everyone to Christianity, many times ‘by force if necessary’ luckily the better Christians knew that this was wrong.
With Islam, I believe that the they are 50% of the world religions, and I do think that what is happening to them over the last 20 years is not good and unifying them all against the rest making them very angry. x

If the Swastik could have less importance in relation to the Nazi killings, I think people would think more about that crazed lunatic Hitler and what he did and not just think about the Symbol,which is what is happening at present. The modern Nazi followers are preying on Jews fear of the Symbol. If the Jews did not fear this Symbol, what are they going to do? I am very sorry for everyone who suffered, and indeed the sight of a Swastik could still bring fear in these people, but hopefully the next generation Jews will not fear the symbol this way, but remember really it was THAT lunatic! x

hello there, i made this swastik without any information like the result of not makin it properly, i just made it, when i was in the middle as i didnt know how xactly to make it my friend said if u wont make it xactly it will effect you badly and that ediot fellow told me in the middle after i know how bad time i faced, till yet, everything was repeating with me. every single thing incident good bad was taking me back like somethng is rewinding. since then i really got scared to draw this sign but still i have draw them today, am still scared.

RESPONSE: YES! The SWASTIKA, and the ONLY SWASTIKA in world existence, is very Sacred to Hindi Peoples, and means a lot to them. So why does so many degrade this Holy Symbol and Icon, when it is the German TWISTED CROSS that was used by Hitler and his Nazi’s? I agree. Just because the Nazis decided to misuse the
Swastika for their own purposes isn’t right to ban it.In reality it stands for goodness and rightousness not evil
as the Nazis made it stand for.
As most peaceful things in life, the true meaning will always twisted by twisted minds as seen by the nazis, and so many people only see the symbol as death hatred and destuction, when its been a good luck and peace symbol for millions of people, for hundreds of years we need to let the next generation know of these things otherwise as lots of good things in life, they are only known for the wrong reasons not the good.

I don’t see it that the impact of Nazism has to be lessened in order to reclaim the swastika. I don’t think anyway needs to somehow forget or brush over what the Nazis did and what they represented. The Nazis attempted to co-opt a symbol, to benefit from its great power. But, incredibly, they mistook their own depraved ideas as being somehow universal and eternal. The pure idea of the swastika only throws Nazism into even sharper relief. It shows how audacious and absurd it was for them to ever associate themselves with it.
I don’t see the case for diminishing what they did. They did what they did, and the swastika is what it is. And one is not the other, no matter what they claimed.
And I don’t see a case for saying “that swastika is bad because the Nazis used it, but that one is good because they didn’t”. I think it’s OK to explain that the Nazis used the swastika, but that doesn’t make the swastika itself somehow bad.
On meaning being inherent in symbols – I do think that symbols and forms can affect the mind in different ways – just as different sounds (e.g. music) can impact the mind. I think that the main part of this is independent of cultural negotiation, history or other bias, but we layer meaning on top of it with our minds, until it can be difficult to perceive the original effect.
Good idea – on effectively co-opting it back into an honourable, worthy organisation or campaign.

@ Christopher, I think trying to set up a organisation or even a charity using the flyfot is a fantastic idea, like a breath of fresh air. Maybe the users here would be interested in such a project with regards your enquiry to the twisted swastika i’ll try a few web site for you and see what i come up with, also i’m afraid to say that unless there is a concerted effort globally to stop Islam now’ we will be see,ing a repeat of the holocaust against all infidels across the world.

I’m a Critical & Contextual Studies lecturer from the UK teaching across a wide range of degree-level arts courses. Basically, that means I’m required to be a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ and as I work at a teaching institution (rather than a research institution) I have very little time for in-depth, specialist research.
With this in mind, I was hoping someone on this forum could help me answer a question: Were the Nazis the only people to rotate the Swastika 45 degrees? I can’t find any examples online so far, but as I have said, my time is limited (and I’m rubbish at finding stuff…).
I already make a point each year of de-bunking the ‘wrong way around’ myth in my classes, but I’m interested to know if the Nazis were unique in using a ’tilted’ swastika.
It might be of interest to you to know that I also currently use the swastika in my lectures on semiotics as the basis for a debate on the way meaning is not inherent to symbols, but is instead transient and negotiated: in a very small way I’m hopefully doing my bit to reclaim the symbol from the Third Reich!
That said, there is a dilemma attached to the issue of reclaiming the swastika: I am a firm believer in the principle of ‘never forget’ – the Nazis represent the worst that humanity is capable of and unfortunately I can’t see an easy way to disassociate the swastika from them without in some way diluting or dulling the collective memory of what they did.
What I mean is that because the symbol is so closely associated with the Third Reich, reclaiming the swastika as a symbol for good may not be possible without lessening the significance of what the Nazis did (or at the very least their place in history). In this sense the question has to be asked: what is more important – that we reclaim an ancient symbol or remember what the Nazis did so that we may not repeat it again?
Unless…
There is a simple solution that can be understood by everyone with little explanation. Such as:
‘Tilted’ Swastika = Bad
‘Square’ Swastika = Good
Hence my question… Which I admit is somewhat rhetorical: as well as being a lecturer I have also enjoyed a successful career as a graphic designer for 20 years and after much consideration, I believe that the only realistic way to reclaim the swastika without diminishing the memory of Nazism is to be specific (as in the above model). Furthermore, if ’tilted’ was changed to ‘twisted’ then obvious avenues for potential campaigns present themselves.
Specifically, I can envision a campaign in conjunction with a global charity which uses the square swastika in conjunction with good activities and juxtaposes it with the twisted swastika and what that signifies. This approach would not only go some way to reclaiming the symbol, it would also clarify how it should be used as well as retaining the horror of the holocaust – three birds with one stone…
Deliberately (and clearly) associating the symbol with good deeds is crucial because you cannot simply ‘delete’ meaning – it can lessen over time, but it is much easier (and quicker) to actively change what it means.
The perfect example of this is the Pink Triangle as a symbol of gay rights – it was originally created by the Nazis to identify homosexuals during the holocaust, but then actively reclaimed by the gay community to the point where few people know it’s true origins…
I haven’t had time to read all the posts so if this question has been asked (and answered) before I apologise. I also don’t want to stir up a hornet’s nest so be kind in your responses – my comments are solely based on a cultural/semiotic perspective (albeit with a degree of bias in that I agree with the spirit of this website).

I agree, if people stopped putting nazi next to Swastika everywhere and more people put all the other significances, eventually the nazi correlation would become smaller in the eyes of the world and the real significances would gain their importance again. x
