if you all see this as a problem then post here with a signature so that all people can know how many people feel this way http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/reclaming-the-swasika/signatures.html

There was a company that produced gas valves with a swastika as their logo. The ones I saw were taken out of an old house that was built around 1900 in Texas. Who knows when the gas valves were installed, of course. I would bet that the logo was changed after Hitler adopted the swastika.

The swastika is a beautiful symbol that got a bad rap. It is a pretty design that can be reproduced easily by any child. I really like the stonework “around Manchester Central Library, UK. Built 1930-4.” here:

I look forward to having a child see a swastika and saying “That’s nice! I want to draw that!” and no one getting upset. It may take a while yet.

Nazis and Hitler were not evil. I in no way endorse their actions, nor do I have political beliefs in keeping with theirs. I am not condoning their atrocities, nor do I like them. Indeed, I say this because it is so very important to remember that they were not evil in order to stop their evil actions being emulated by others. I am going to ignore the latter stages of his life, when the Führer was clearly going insane, and focus on the period around 1935-1942.

The atrocities which occurred, and the fact that they were allowed to occur by both the people of Germany and the other peoples of the world, is very sad.

Things got well out of hand and somehow this happened without too many persons realising the way it was all heading.

Saying Hitler was ‘evil’ or the Nazi movement is ‘evil’ is a device to absolve us of guilt by association. Men did these things. Enough men that they cannot all have been caught up in a mass villainy.

It is horrendous and the acts were barbarous, but to write it off as ‘evil’ without considering what the causes were and why it happened makes it all to easy for the same thing to happen again.

Condemn the atrocities (I know I do) but look at them as an example of what villainy man is capable of and use them as a tool to prevent recurrence.

WWII is not a fairy tale, using the swastika is not an evil talisman. The answer is to remember the disaster, work towards repairing the damage (which is nearly done, as time has past) and strive never to allow this to happen again.

Shouting at symbols is just pointless. Banning it and never using it outside a neo-nazi context merely adds weight to the symbol. The more we treat it as a pretty shape, the sillier the already pretty daft neo-nazis will look.

Also, Hitler had beautiful legs (/Monty Python)

why should religions suffer because of one persons misleading inappropriate use of a symbol.
(What if some one did the same thing with a smile faced flag would no one smile any more for fear of upsetting someone)
would Walmart have to change the advertisement for fear of being classed with a group of villans
would you really scum to act of stereotyping
By the way ( All thing stated on this site are fact and if you are to childish to realize it then don’t post)

Swastika representing whilrling motion ie the crircumference keeps changing while its center remains fixed, is an ancient Hindu sanskrit symbol to mean ” the entire universe(-ie entire creation with all its contents, Bhramanda ) is ever changing but the substratum or source ie God or creator ever remains unchnged and unaffected. This the esoteric meaning of the exoteric symbol.
Just because the Nazi hijacked it, does not mean it should be ” banned ”.The German goverment should not resort to hide their guilt of mass human destruction by the Nazi by wanting to band this auspicious symbol.

The Swastika is a very nice symbol endeed… Many people here used as a symbol of the ancient mesoamerican knowledge.

  11. 350. Andeyejah says:

I think the swastika symbolises red yellow black and white and north south east and west.People all of the same colour were sent out in four directons originaly from the same land which is now under water slowly we all changed colour according to the environment..The reds were to learn about the earth and animals the yellows to learn about air blacks water and whites fire.We then were to meet up again and share our knowledge.Unfortunately it has all gone wrong the negative has prevailed and we are all up shit creek without a paddle so there. We are an alien experiment the budhists call them the friendly ghosts. You will see images of these beings in ancient tibetan art. They are small and look like slanty eyed big headed insectoids.

  12. 349. Harries says:

I strongly believe in freedom of speech and that there is no reason that it should be a crime to dispaly a swastika at all. A lot of religions use it and even if some whacko wants to display it for his belief in the nazis, that’s his say. People all over the world say things we don’t like. We have to live with it. Jews say they don’t believe inb Jesus so lets ban the star of david etc….

  13. 348. Anonymous says:

I find it interesting that an Acharya is so concerned with a symbol as to run this website and devote such time to it. Regardless of it’s perceived significance (simply a belief or thought after all even if invested with energy because of all the thoughts devoted to it over historical time)) surely it is more important to spend time being in the moment with what is – rather than in the past (no matter how controversial).

  14. 347. inuyasha2vlad says:

All thing conserdered you if you ban a single symbol in any way shap or from then you limit your self in a sence that you now have an opening that allow yourseslf to futher limations. Like what if the cross, star of david, Hold trinity, and the 9 sided start were to be band? what then? Who is to blame for those that use and abuse symbols what happen now. (i would like to say that this is a geat site and that i as a human IN THE HUMAN RACE SUPPORT THIS SITE AND ALL IT EMBODYS

  17. 344. Andrea says:

Hello, I have a 1930′ish swastika pin, it’s attached to a card that says it’s for good luck for the month of January. What is it worth? I can send a photo of it…thanks

  18. 343. Lizandro says:

    Hi Bernt!
Actually, I see it not as a purpose of “indoctrination” or any kind of politics that is moving for amputation of freedom o’ speech. Course, Brazil is not a so-democratic country (as media pressures up every time it seems to be profitful, and so does the great businessmen, multinational enterprise groups, speculative capital holdings, etc). But it is significative that here is allowed to use the symbols exactly in the purpose this site is claiming for. Well, this country is not the most perfect idea of good government in the world, but in one single point we achieved one goal that is remarkable – we do not allow intollerance based in any kind of religious manifestation. Here we see living aside (and neighbouring, having friendships for lives) jews and muslims, what can I say more…? So…we welcome you all, despite your beliefs (except, of course, the evil ones…nazis included here). In your person, receive all the Norwegians my regards, and cheers!

Niila, came to Mexico and here we show you the real significance of the Swastika…

Did you know that Baba said that the verticle line of the swastika represents Shiva and the horizontal line represents Shakti?
