    Lizandro !

Every time that you make something illegal you run the risk of amputating the democracy. Free speech is a important corner stone that in Brazil has been crucified due to bad concision and indoctrination. There are still countries in the world that does not cave in for Jewish pressure to ban the swastika.
    Norway is one.

Nice and enlightening site about the matter.
A little contribution for the debate… here in Brazil, the use of swastika for nazi-propaganda is a crime. In fact, the federal law # 7.716, dated jan. 5, 1989 (altered by federal law # 9.459, dated may 13 1997), describes the criminal type and penalty. It says: :

“§ 1º – Fabricar, comercializar, distribuir ou veicular símbolos, emblemas, ornamentos, distintivos ou propaganda que utilizem a cruz suástica ou gamada, para fins de divulgação do nazismo.
Pena: reclusão de dois a cinco anos e multa.”

    Translated:

1st § – To manufacture, vend, distribute or stamp symbols, emblems, ornaments, badges or propaganda using the swastika or gammadia (void) cross, for nazi doctrine divulgation purposes.
Penalty: two to five years inprisonment and fine.

As far as my studies let go (I am a Post-Graduate in Law), the “esprit de loi” involved in it is obviously to criminally prosecute and penalize JUST the irregular and evil use of the swastika and gammadia (void) cross. So far, the only notices of prosecution and penalties under this legal instrument reports to neo-nazi groups and related personal. It’s one of the really rare cases in what the brazilian legislators seem to act rationally, whatever…

Last, a thing to wonder about:
When you deal with (and often fight) a SYMBOL and NOT an IDEA, it’s obvious you are up to repeat History and its errors.

    HI!
There’s one thing. The nazis used the swastika, but it was a turned sideways a bit. Like the star that satanist use, it’s turned sideways, or downwards, some may notice.
So the swastika that Hindus and Buddhists use is a bit different. It’s a small difference, yet the meaning is quite the opposite. One simbolizes destruction while other simbolises the highest goal of one’s spiritual efforts.
    Take care

The symbol of the swastika is a very empowering symbol. The other day i had it drawn on my hand inorder to do better in general life but once 2 other kids and a teacher saw it i was forced to wash it off if anyone would like to help me get the right to wear the swastica back in school E-mail me at scottishslug@yahoo.com label the subject swastika and say why it should be able to be worn in school. Anyone who does this has my greatest thanks.

It cannot be said enough, and as many others before me I shall say it too!

The Swastika is a beautiful, perfect symbol that represents love and prosparity and other good emotions and thoughts. Why should such a symbol be banned? Because it reminds us of the tragedy that took over Europe more than sixty years ago? And why should we want to forget? Shouldn’t we be confronted with the mistakes of the past every day?
And what of the religions that still use it this day? In India, it hangs over every door! It’s just the way people look at it, one sees the beauty, the other only sees the bad side. But that is not the symbol’s fault. Should the symbol be punished? I myself am a great admirer of the swastika, for aesthetics it is perfect, it’s a circle of continuity. One should not associate it with fascism in any way.

    The Swastika is ours!

I find it amazing that a simple symbol, a doodle if you will, can have so much power over so many people. Of course we do tend to define ourselves by symbols. Yes, we are an enlightened species.

So what if the Nazis used it as a symbol. They wore shoes and clothing too. Maybe we should ban those.

I once read somewhere that people in the dark ages didn’t bathe for a thousand years because the Romans did. Hmmm. See how far we’ve come.

May the EU will now start a campaign to get the Christian Cross banned because the Klu Klux Klan used it as their symbol ? No I didn’t hink so.

Just shows the complete lack of cultural awareness of the EU.

    Nice Site.
I’m Portuguese. Here in Portugal there are some pre-WW2 institutions with swastikas all over the place.

BANNING SWASTIKAS IS LIKE SAYING HITLER HAS BOUGHT IT AS THE NAZIS TRADEMARK!

Nazis can’t ever be allowed to steal this symbol from mankind. Share the beautiful swastikas all around the world!

Los raelianos están locos… su lider es un farsante.
y, los que sabemos de simbologìa detestamos su uso de la Swastika. Schuss!!!

  10. 331. Duayt says:

Having a bad reaction to a swastika says more about the viewer than the swastika. Why not just look at it until the thoughts and feelings subside? Don’t let your concepts get the best of you!

    Tough job ahead of you…
like bringing back into fashion the Olympic salute and the surname Adolf
    Gook Luck, you need it.

Haha! Let’s forbid fivecornered star! ‘coz USSR killed more people than Third Reich. So they are evil too. And their symbol should be forbidden

    :D

Or, maybe, we should forgot the name of Germany?
Or, maybe, black eagle should be cleared from our memories?

  14. 327. Norma-Raelian says:

The swastica is the symbol of infinity. As it is above, is below and all is cyclic ! It has been used since the bigining of times by all cultures and countries. If the swastica must be destroyed because of the criminals who used it. Then the Cross should too!! As it has been used in worse manners than the Swastica.
We must reclaim the Swastica’s meaning!

  17. 324. Robert says:

Good initiative. Its about time the nazis hand over the last piece of goods they stole. The swastika must be returned.
