There is a widespread resentment in Japan (I’m from there btw) over the West’s usage of Swastika, known as “manji” in Japan.

Nintendo’s Pokemon had a buddhist-inspired character, but that was censored in the USA. The same happened to a cartoon “Kin’niku-man” OK, these are less big deals, but many Japanese families carry “family symbol”, and many of them contain manji, because it has been and still is the symbol of Buddhism in the same way cross is for Christianity and crescent is for Islam.

Japanese resentment probably wouldn’t have much effect, but what may happen is that China’s increasingly anti-west sentiment may pick on this issue and possibly India to follow.

Can Anyone Clear up what the Two forms of Swastikas actually mean though PLEASE.

    Here is what ive read.

A positive swastika is one tha spins CLOCKWISE.
Clockwise meaning towards the Right with the extending lines flying left away from the clockwise spin.

The other example is the NAZI swastika which spins COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Meaning spinning towards the left with with extending lines extending right away from the counter clockwise spin.

The reason a clockwise swastika is considered POSITIVE is because its spinning with the NATURAL flow of NATURE. The SUN. Again NATURAL.

While they say a counter clockwise swastika is considered to mean VICTORY that tends to mean RESISTENCE or UN NATURAL. Against nature. To change the natural flow of things. While this of course sounds positive depending on your perspective it could also be considered as a Selfish act. To Combat the natural way of things for ones own personal gain at the cost of all of nature.

The actions of NAZIs are a clear indication that UN NATURAL acts were carried out but were planned from the begining.

Thats why im for Reclaiming the Swastika only because i think that we are still experiencing today alot of the negativity that the NAZIs spread through out the world.

BUT people have to be informed as to which Swastika is actually the POSITIVE swastika.

I SAY THAT THE CLOCK WISE SPINNING SWASTIKA IS THE POSITIVE ONE.
clockwise spins towards the right with the lines extending out towards the left away from the forward motion

THE COUNTER CLOCKWISE SPINNING SWASTIKA IS THE NEGATIVE ONE.
counter clockwise spins towards the left with the lines extending out towards the left away from the forward motion

PLEASE SOMEBODY CLARIFTY THIS FOR ME.

    THANK YOU

    GOD BLESS.

I totally agree with the idea of reclaiming the swastika, and re-educating people to the beautifull meaning of this symbol. I think it is something that will eventually inevitably happen, although without a lot of help, possibly not in my lifetime.

I have recently been doing some stencil grafitti of different swastika’s with positive phrases, so that the people who see tham might associate the symbol with that word next time they see one?

Any ideas of words, or places to paint them would be greatly appreciated!

I couldn’t agree more that people need to let go of how bigot’s and racists have misued tradintionally strong and meaningful symbols. By banning it and not talking about it and being offended when someone sees it, what message is being sent?! It’s to keep the negative thought alive, instead of being able to recognize the bigger picture of its history.

I like this site and found it while looking to educate myself a little more on the symbolism of different historically controversal flags….Thank you for the enlightenment!

  7. 454. Adam says:

One thing your forgetting on this website, minor really, is that the swastika also represents the Sun.

Good luck destroying the stereotype, it will be a long battle…

  8. 453. yasturkk says:

    thats a nice symbol
    but people dont like it
one day i went to school with a t-shirt that had a swastika on it and i became an anti-semit for the rest of the smester

  9. 452. Elisa says:

The swastika/fylfot is also a symbol of Odinism/Asatru. Let it be reclaimed in the name of Odin.

  10. 451. Wattsup55 says:

i think that everyone should have their own beleif on what the symbol means. Weather or not that means the nazi way or the original way. i think nobody should try to take the symbol away from people who use it in a different way to show there belief because it isn’t their fault the Nazi’s chose to use this symbol for nazism like they did w/ many other symbols they technailly stole from other people to mean what the nazi wanted to mean.

  11. 450. gurkha vince says:

isn’ t it just a sad fact of life, that another bunch of fat
political morons in europe wants to flex it’s political
and totalitarian muscle, to dictate their living terms to
all citizens. knowledge is power and they pass laws so that you can’ t have any. this is the process of all
political pigs, regardless of the symbol they use to
    represent themselves.

  12. 449. Real Revolution says:

Is it not true that a Clock wise spinning Swastika means the Sun and Life and Natural?

While a Counter Clockwise means the opposite??

Does this website have a secret agenda?

I thank you for what you are doing with this site. The only way that things are going to change is through education and you are doing a good job here. I stumbled upon your site while doing research for a school paper, and found many interesting facts and pictures. Thanks again and keep spreading the love!

Worth reading about Swastika.: The Polar Myth in Science, Symbolism and Nazi Survival_ by Joscelyn Godwin is an interesting book about occult and pseudoscientific theories on polar shifts, the succession of ages, the Aryan race, the “hollow earth” theory, Nazi underground bases, lost cities, UFOs, mystical powers, theosophy, sex magick and a host of other obscure topics. The book begins with a discussion of the theory of polar shift, its relation to astrological, occult and Hindu calculations concerning the ages the earth has gone through. The actuality of the proverbial Golden Age might have some support if at some point in the past the earth’s axis was parallel to the sun and not veering at a tilt. The North Pole would have had a temperate climate, illuminated by the shining stars, moon, the aurora borealis and the light of the sun visible beyond the horizon-a place of eternal light, a theoretical location for the Garden of Eden. Arising from this polar theory is the notion of a primordial polar homeland for the human race. This leads into the bizarre theories of the origin of the Aryan race and the superiority of Indo-European culture and religion over that of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Semites. The Nazi believed that the Germans had a mystical homeland in a northern region known as Thule. The theories of the Nazis are examined, including Alfred Rosenburg and his official exposition of Nazi philosophy, _Myth of the Twentieth Century_. The Sicilian esotericist Julius Evola and his book _Revolt Against the Modern World_ also draws from the polar myth. He believed that an original Aryan race migrated from a polar Hyperborea, following a solar religion dominated by the warrior ethos and conquering spirit. According to Evola, the original religion of these Aryans has its elements sown in the myths of world in a variety of cultures. A more aberrant view of Nazi occultism comes from Miguel Serrano, a Chilean diplomat and author. His work _Hitler: El Ultimo Avataro_ describes a cosmic struggle between the Order of Nazis who are currently located in a hidden base in Antarctica against “the Demiurge”: Judaism, Christianity and Freemasonry. The deliverance of the Aryan race will come when Nazi flying saucers emanate from Antarctica and take over the world. Many theories have also circulated about a possible “hole at the pole” where adventurers could gain access to subterranean Utopias. Aghartha and Shambhala are two mythical cites in Central Asia whose existence has been either literally or figuratively believed in. The denizens of Aghartha stand for worldly power while Shambhala is the abode of mystical enlightenment. The place of Antarctica is examined in detail as well as the North Pole. While the North Pole has a pleasant reputation (surprisingly Santa’s house is not mentioned) as a cozy homeland, the South Pole has stood for the earth’s demons. In old legends, treachery, death and monsters have been associated with the South. In modern times this translates into Serrano’s secret Nazis in Antarctica plotting against humanity. The Pole figures to a great extent in the various theories of the origins of religion as well. In the period after the Renaissance, Reformation and Enlightenment, many different scholars attempted to develop a unified theory to explain the origins of the world’s religions. One theory was one of a universal solar worship. An example of this would be the Gospels written to describe the sun passing through the signs of the Zodiac throughout the year. Phallus worship was another theory, attributing religion to the awe primordial men felt toward the generative and fertile sources of nature. The polar theory is a combination of the two. The swastika also has its origins here. The positions of Ursa Minor taken together throughout the seasons of the year thousands of years ago would have looked liked a swastika when depicted on a chart showing the seasonal observations simultaneously. The mythical “Land of the Sun” in several ancient cultures and astrological setups also show a polar orientation. Godwin notes that King Arthur may be drawn from the polar/solar traditions as well. The “Spiritual Pole” chapter covers the metaphysical practices, including Yoga, which have used polar and axial ideas to stand as a metaphor for an ascent into enlightenment. The last third of _Arktos_ summarizes the theories of why the earth’s axis is at a tilt. The “catastrophists” believed that the pole shifted in sudden violent changes in ages past and was responsible for epochal calamities. The “uniformitarians” on the other hand postulated that the earth is continually shifting its polar locations, repeating in cycles. The scientific theories concerning polar shifts are examined, but Godwin draws no conclusions for or against the idea. Of course, most of the occult literature on the subject is totally at odds with objective science. The most outlandish theorist examined here is Cyrus Teed, AKA “Koresh” (no Waco connection). This mystic propagated the idea that we are actually living on the concave of earth’s inner shell. The stars, planets and the sun are reflections inside the earth itself. One aspect of Godwin’s book that makes it informative is his objectivity-and possibly even a subtle hint of approval–towards his subjects. Godwin concludes by making reference to the Kali Yuga, the Age of Iron that describes the modern world process of decay according to Hindu eschatology, in addition to the “end of the Age of Pisces.” Although Godwin does not take Pisces as referring to Christ, he makes his support clear toward the idea of the “earth reasserting its rights” with a polar shift–a massive global catastrophe–that will destroy the pretenses of humanity and inaugurate the next Golden Age

Swastika is very ancient and holy symbol of India. In Harappan cities which belongs to 3600bc Swastika was excavated. In many indian ancient rock inscriptions start with ‘Swasthisri’.Many civilizations considered it as a sign of Good luck.Such a symbol of antiquity is nothing to do with those who misused it..Those countries which banned it simply doing it because of keeping inside some kind prejudice on Swastika’s cultural and religious connections. That is the real truth.

    Hi Julia,
It’s a great idea to make t-shirts. Perhaps also a small ‘.com’ after the ‘Reclaim the Swastika’, so that people can find this community?

The font for the website is called Due Date. If you wanted to take the initiative, then we could add a link to buy t-shirts from the website.

If you want to discuss any of this off-list, please email mail at reclaimtheswastika.com.

  18. 443. Julia says:

Hey, I wrote a comment in March (I think) asking what us common folk could do to help reclaim the swastika. I suggested buying T-shirts with swastikas and quick-witted lines, but as you perhaps do not have the budget to do this, I was wondering if I would be permitted to make a T-shirt saying “Reclaim the Swastika”, perhaps even with your fonts and stuff? If you do not wish me to do so, or if you’re a trademark, then I will of course not.

However, if you are a trademark, you are most welcome to start producing these T-shirts. I know I’d buy one!

the swastika has been wrongfully corrupted and the EU should seriously reconsider using it. It’s true meaning has not been lost, just clouded in misery and hate. We need to right this wrong as soon as possible.
