Well, the site’s name says it all. I think of all the symbolisms that we fight for, this one is one of the more essential ones.
This is something that will happen to you in the US. If you show a NAZI SWASTIKA in the US, you will get arrested or get beaten up.
So don’t do it.
The swastika is not all bad there for it should not be baned in all parts of the world. But for the part in wich the nazi’s used it for there national symbol, it is very much evil. Be thankful the allies stoped the nazi’s and there rampage.
This site is a fantastic find! Still a little bit of reading that needs to take place on my part, but I am sure I will get there.
I had no idea about the EU band … crazy! I am currently living in Sweden … I hope that they do not come and confiscate my Swastika hat that I brought back from our 100th anniversary.

The swastika is the world’s oldest complex symbol. The oldest found swastika is around 8500 years old. Traditionally the swastika has been used all over the world on every continent and has almost universally meant good fortune, life, light or other good things.
We must not let this discrimination of an ancient symbol continue, just because a bunch of Germans used it in their political organization’s symbol.

It is not just the swastika that needs reclaiming but historical truth, the twin evils of Communism and Capitalism is destroying all peoples heritage and culture and torning our nations into slaves of the system.

The true meaning of the swastika is a beautiful one; I have always wanted (and am getting soon!) a small swastika tattoo to remind me to persevere. Indeed, this site is a wealth of information and one I will reference in regards to my tattoo!!

One thng to note is that the Hindu, Buddist etc Swastikas are never rotated 45 degrees and are often accompanied by dots. This changes the symbol significantly. The Nazis abused many symbols – runes, celtic symbols (eg triskele) etc, most have “survived and revived” since World War 2. Sadly the swastika still envokes horror in most western eyes and I think the symbol will take a long time to be reinvented in western eyes – as Steven Heller says in “Swastika-symbol beyond redemption” – “On the scales of meaning the horror the swastika evokes far outweighs any benign and harmless attributes it has(in the western world at least)”
I’ve actually noticed both so-called ‘negative’ and ‘positive’ swastikas on ancient Irish relics, suggesting to me that Hitler’s choice of Hakenkreuz was not a ‘perversion’ of the swastika, but another form of it.

The Swastika in mayan country is a couple of enlaced serpents… is a astronomical symbol and thats the way still is used by groups like the Asume-Edelweiss; Bergsteiger und Überleben… the Swastika in all the North Hemisphere represent the aparent move of stars around the North Pole Star.

There’s no directional difference for a Swastik in my opinion. It’s like a gun, for example : is a tool, one could use it to create peace or violence.
Your mind could see movement but the movement is an illusion (linguistic, pictorial).
A Swastik (a) may be representing something, in different languages, but it’s only a symbol.
In the East we believe it represents good and equality. A semantical balance, all equal.
It’s as-if to call for a ban on the US flag if it were used by a militant group to promote terror?
To submit and agree to the true meaning of the Swastik as represented by the majority.
Nevertheless what you fail to understand is that good and bad are human moralistic concepts based on the concept of self-preservation. Meaning nature doesn’t equate to the concept of good and bad. Hence good and bad is in your mind (thought) and body (action).

A. It depends on the context. Different cultures believe different things. There is no “right” answer. Like many things in life, this is a gray area unless you stand in a stationary position (e.g., believe in one representation)
Under the symbolism link, you quote Sarkar as warning people not to use the negative swastika. However, you neglect to present a balanced view.
In many cultures (Lithuanian and Latvian, that I know of), this distinction is not recognized.
Disturbing news from Lithuania. Apologies if this appears elsewhere on your site. I am very disappointed that the Seimas does not recognize the use of the swastika as an ancient, sacred symbol. Even “variants thereof” have been banned!
Banned Symbols
Today, the Parliament (Seimas) of Lithuania passed the toughest law in
Europe prohibiting the display of all Nazi and Soviet symbols, including
flags of the Third Reich, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and
Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, their arms, uniforms and anthems.
Prohibition includes also any variant of the swastika, hammer and sickle
and five-pointed red star and public display of the images of the
leaders of the NSDAP and the Communist parties of the USSR and LSSR.
During the discussion, radical deputy Petras Grazulis (Union of the
Fatherland) wanted to include the symbols of the Polish Home Army
(AK-Armia Krajowa) into the law, but this was rejected by the
Parliament.
Russian media told their readers and viewers that the anthems of the
Russian Federation and Federal Republic of Germany won’t be performed in
Lithuania anymore as identical to those of Nazi Germany and Soviet
Union. However, the Lithuanian Parliament made it clear that the
prohibition concerns only the old words of both anthems.
