this is rediculous. the nazis couldnt even think of their own symbo, instead they stole the idea of the swazi from the hindu form meaning purity and angled it. neo-nazis also stole the skinhead look from the skinhead-mod scene of the 1960 in london. just goes to show you how much many people love to think for themselves.

As a Heathen, I know that this symbol, at least in the west, originates as a symbol of Lord Thunor’s strength, might, and protection. The symbol’s visual design is of His lightning.

Alex claims that it should be banned, as Buddhism needs no symbols and whatnot. Sorry bub, but your nay-saying attitude will not give a better understanding, nor a better education to the public.

If Hitler made our symbol a racist one, then the Klan has done with same with the American flag that they now fly more than the old Confederate flag.

If we are to ban the Fylf?t, then we are to also ban the American flag, since it represents military aggression, racist oppression, and torture in Guantanamo Bay.

You see the point I’m getting at?

Of course, we are the son’s of the Swastika… the ancient symbol who is, in fact, a symbol of freedom.
Here in Mexico we have Swastikas too.
    Have a Happy New Year.

The Ancient symbol of the Fyflot, The Sunwheel etc,I wear as a tattoo, I attained this symbol in Iceland, where it is representative of Thor’s Hammer, The Protective Norse God of the Common man!
On the other arm is the Valknut which represents The High One Odin .
Lord of Truth to whom I give my allegiance!
It has nothing in common with the Nazi’s and totalitarianism in general!
May we all stand strong in the defence of Freedom!

I think instead of bringing back the swastika, we can just say that the handlebar mustache will stand for all the things the swastika once meant.

  12. 569. alex says:

the swastika should be banned. Buddhism does not need symbols. Even the Lord Buddha congratulated a monk when he burned a wooden buddha statue to keep warm. The swastika has become a symbol of hate in the west. There is no need to provoke by reintroducing the symbol no matter how ancient it is.

    Dear AUpshaw:
I understand, living with racist is very hard , but the use of the Swastika is cause they are ignorants, they believe the stupid Hitler create the symbol… here we try to rescue the symbol, is not simple, but we must to try…

The reason why swastikas are still looked down on is not simply because it was used as a hate symbol in the past–it still is a hate symbol. I live in the south: a traditionally rascist part of the country. I know people who legitimately hate Jews and use the swastika to symbol their beliefs in hatred.

I understand there must be frustration in the hijacking of a holy symbol. But be careful about promoting something that represents to most people (especially in the west) pure hatred.

  16. 565. Kelly Mitchell says:

Being a Buddhist of many years, I have seen it placed frequently on broacades and the like. It is not, in my tradition – Tibetan, a prominent symbol. I believe it was taken from the Bon religion, but am unsure. I also believe it symbolizes protection of some sort.
Of course, the Iluminatologists say it is a broken cross, but considering it’s age in the East, I am skeptical.

  17. 564. srinivas says:

What Francisco Marto Rodrigues said is perfectly true. Since once ba***d misused a symbol other ba**ds want to ban it. What the change they can bring by banning a symbol. If thats the case since Hilter’s catholism caused all these havoc then Catholism also be banned. Since he used militiary dress that also should be banned. Since he lived in Germany all germans should be banned. Foolish fellows. The future can always rub away the past so use Swastika in your profiles websites etc…. and propogate it. No body can su*k anything.

  18. 563. gratian says:

For me the swastika might symbolize The Golden Rule, “Do not do to other that you wouldn’t like done upon yourself !” the keystone wisdom for human mutualism and cooperation that can be found in a form or another in all mankind schools of thought and philosophies. The karmic buddhist version of it says ignoble deeds will fire back on you as a boomerang.
In a broader view, the swastika might stand for the univers’ cyclical nature, whatever that means ;)

  19. 562. Francisco Marto Rodrigues says:

The problem with the West and the western mind is to see things as black and white. But life is a rainbow. Sex has been repressed and prostitution and pornography appeared as an offshot. Joy and ecstatic manifestations are repressed and then people start consumming drugs. An idiot has used a sacred symbol and now idiots want to ban it. Both idiots are part of the same type of mind, just the two sides of a coin. If they want to ban the sacred swastica because of the nazis, they shoud ban the cross because of the Crusades and the eagle as a symbol because of its connection with the nazis. Then all the symbols should be banned each time an idiot uses it for egoistic purposes. They are ignorant! The swastika is an ancient variation of the cross and are more variations like the symbol of Venus and the egyptian cross. Because the cross esoterically symbolizes the Fall of the divine Spirit into Matter, the dimensions of space and time. If they ban the swastika people should start use it beneath the clothes, like a mandala.
